"I bought a star for my dad on his birthday — the first one without him. Now I have somewhere to look when I miss him. I open the link almost every week."

"A friend sent us one the week after Mum's funeral. The flowers went in the bin; this is the only thing the four of us still open."
Hannah, Adelaide
Sympathy gift
Buying for someone else
When flowers aren't enough.
If a family you love has just lost someone, you already know the problem: you want to send something, and everything you can send feels too small. A named star is the rare sympathy gift that is still there a year later.
01
It arrives before the funeral
Delivery is instant. Name the star tonight and it's with them in minutes — not in three days, once the service is over and the cards have stopped.
02
It doesn't wilt
Nothing to water, nothing to throw out. Two weeks on, when the house has gone quiet and everyone else has moved on, the star is still up there.
03
The family keeps it forever
One payment, no renewals, no expiry. The certificate and the coordinates belong to them permanently — something to frame, and something to return to.
04
The whole family can share it
The star page is a single private link. Send it once and everyone — children, siblings, grandchildren, wherever they are — can open the same star.
Honest answers
A few things people ask.
Is the star really registered?+
Yes. We assign one of 50,000+ catalogued stars with verifiable RA/Dec coordinates. The naming is a private registration through Still Shining — not an IAU change (no commercial body can do that). What you receive is real, and yours.
How is this different from "buying land on the moon"?+
Honestly? Both are symbolic. The difference: you can see your star. We send you the exact coordinates so you can look up tonight, from your backyard, and know which one it is. That's what makes it feel real.
Can I find the star with my phone?+
Yes. Included with every star is access to our star finder — a web app, no download needed. On any clear night, open it on your phone, point it at the sky, and it guides you straight to your star. Wherever you are in the world, whenever you need to find them.
Is there a subscription, or do I pay once?+
One payment. $59 AUD. The star stays named, forever. No annual fees, no renewals. If we ever shut down, your certificate and coordinates are still yours.
